Feather Dance
Here's a pair of dancing lovelies sponsored by AJ. It was first commissioned as a black and white piece and then, recently, he hired me to color it. I thought it was strong in monochrome and I like it even more in color. It works well on many levels, from overall design and color to subtle details of expression and expression.

Perils of Pearl Link
Hi folks. I'm back from my double convention--Origins and Anthrocon in one weekend. AJ was there too, and with his help flyers for Perils of Pearl were distributed; in addition, I passed out flyers for Redd's Place. If you are new here and want to go directly to Lulu to get your copy of Pearl, here's a new link on the upper right of the blog that will take you right there.

Plow Horse

Hi folks! I've been a tad pokey in getting posts up here. With perseverance, and a new software program my husband found for me, I hope to change that. This program goes a long way towards solving some problems I've been having with my former blogging software. If it lives up to its promise, I should be posting more often in future.
This week's post is sponsored by EMC, who commissioned a furry piece for his sketch book. The idea for this one had been knocking around my head for a while and EMC was kind enough to give me artistic license, so the original of this one lives on a page in his book. Thank you! I am delighted with the way this one turned out. I'm sorely tempted to do a color version of it.....

Fire Fairy

Here is a piece I did for Tiger Hunter last year. Fire Fairy has spectacular colors, a lovely disposition and excellent, umm, assets. She was done as a very large acrylic painting although, in the original, she was not so modest. I created a frisket film bikini for her so that I could display her at San Diego Comic Con, where Tiger picked her up. Of course, she lost that bikini before she went to her new home....^^

Redd Ribbons

In addition to my commission work, I have pieces that I work on for my own satisfaction. Sometimes I'm doing pieces for prints and collections, sometimes I'm learning new techniques, sometimes I just feel like doing something different. This week's post has a bit of all three motivations. Here is the first of a series that I am calling Redd Ribbons. All pieces in this set will include at least one lovely redhead and at least one strand of red ribbon. After that, who knows...

Pink and Blue

Here's a commissioned peice I like for a several reasons. First, the colors are good: Though soft and pastel, they strongly contrast each other. It can be hard to get both of those effects in the same piece. Second, the fur is detailed without drawing too much attention to itself; this, too, is often hard to acheive. Finally, the character is part way between a furry character and a human--especially in her face. I've always liked this look (furries with lips I guess I would call it) and I think I did a pretty good job with it on this piece.

Cara Considers her Options

Hi all. This week's beauty is Cara, who sits in a tree listening to a lovely bird song; or is she considering a quick snack? Perhaps she's doing a little of both.
This ink and gray tone peice was sketch for t3fingers. Thanks t3!
Cara is not the only one considering. I am thinking about putting together a collection of images in a similar style to this one and putting it up for sale on Redds Place. If you like this idea, please let me know; lots of interested comments will make me do it sooner.

New Delicious Poster

Hi guys. This week's post is a contribution from MMM--a poster he designed using images from the Delicious CD. Thanks M! This poster shows an overview of the whole sequence of art. Although it's not a comic, it did involve a story line. To me, a story makes the art a lot more sensual. I'm not sure why this is; maybe I just like sequential art so much that it colors my view of everything.

Perils of Pearl

This week's pic comes from Perils of Pearl, a short comic project for sale at Redd's Place. PoP #0 is a prequel where we meet the charming young Pearl Summers, her best friend Coral, and get tantalizing glimpse of their sensual, private dance session. Or is it private? Pearl is already attracting the kind of attention that will lead to future Perils.
PoP is drawn by Redd and illustrated by AJ. We are already discussing future adventures for Pearl. We'd love to hear your feedback on this series.

FC and San Jose

Hi folks. I'm back from FC and feeling fine. This is despite the fact that Michigan appears to have followed me when I flew to the west coast. My normal trip down town was cancelled in light of temps in the high 30's and pouring rain.
Regardless of weather, I had a fine time at FC this year. It was a terrific show and I got to chat with lots of folks I haven't seen face to face since last year. I did well and took a lot of commissions. Next year I hope to take my scanner with me, so that I can post some of the pieces I've completed at the show here for all of you to enjoy.
In the meantime, here's a piece I've done for TXtom; it's a very nice piece that I took at Anthrocon last year and completed at home. TX, thanks for including me in the FC group piece--it was fun as usual. As to your question about the wings, I initially figured they were under his suit; my dragon wings are very flexible, like a bat's, and can be literally folded around his body when he has a suit on. He tried wearing a suit that had holes for the wings but those things kept tearing whenever he stretched. His wings are kept in place by a leather vest worn under his shirt so that an errent twitch does not take out a shoulder seam. His underwear could be darn near as interesting as hers.....

Welcome to my Place

Hi, folks. If you're here, you've been to my website www.reddsplace.com or you've talked to me in person, or you were walking down a back street in a big city and saw that small, dim neon sign outside my door and walked in. You got past the bouncer so you must be okay. Pull up a chair, order the virtual beverage of your choice, relax and enjoy.
First news to pass on is about Further Confusion, a furry convention in San Jose California. It's a great show in a wonderful town--especially since San Jose can have mild temperatures this time of year. If you've never been to down town San Jose, grab a train and check it out. It's a first class burg to take a walkabout, grab some coffee, sit at an outdoor cafe and absorb some rays like a cat napping in sunshine. I'll be attending next weekend and next post I'll tell you all about it.
This post, the featured pic is inside peek at Delicious, which can be purchased at the Redd's Place web site. Enjoy!
